I had an idea for this sociological experiment. My goal is to engage in a more detailed and honest dialogue with friends and strangers and to learn more about myself and others.

Today's Question
If you did not have to eat to sustain your body, would you still do it? Meaning, do you derive pleasure from food or treat it as a chore of refueling, which technically it is?
I fight with this often because although I love to eat. I hate the inconvenience of preparing food and having to eat so often. It literally get in the way of the things I need to do. I definitely see it as a refueling chore, but in the same right would rather keep the chore than never have a hamburger again.
The pleasure I derive from a good piece of food or drink is incomparable. Not only do I enjoy the flavor and fragrances of food but I love textures. I could give a list recapping the wonders of my favorite things but we all have our own list. Regardless of what's on the list, I do find it worth the inconvenience. In so many words isn't that what life's about. Dealing with a bunch of bullshit for those few tasty morsels?
Not a tough one. I have been married to a man, for 35 years, who lives to eat not eats to live..Since I have to feed him on a regular basis I guess I would say that I treat food as a pleasure especially when it comes to enchilada's...of any kind!
Thanks Margot. Glad you liked it. Anyhow, to answer the question. I would likely gradually phase the process out if it were superfluous. However, I have grown to love almost all types of cuisine and revel in trying new foods. Further, I make dinner all of the time and would love that time but would just sink it into another creative endeavor. So, to answer, I would not continue as the act would be pointless, but this is not the case and I will be eating good food until I am finished here.
I agree with Diskokitty 100%. The reward of eating something that you poured so much effort into is far greater than the fuss of making it. And I would certainly rather do it, even if a chore, then not have "tasty morsels." Diskokitty --the question you pose at the end of your post is absolutely perfect. I couldn't say it any better: "In so many words isn't that what life's about. Dealing with a bunch of bullshit for those few tasty morsels?"
OMG I love this question.
