Today's Question

All, I totally missed yesterday.  I was hand numbering record inserts and the day just got away from me.  Anyway, since I missed yesterday, here is a two part question.  If you could have any superpower, what would it be?  Note, this is an often asked question but rarely receives a well thought answer, so be very creative.  Also, after choosing your power, what would you use it for?

  1. This is one of my favorite questions to ponder of all time. My answer is the same every time.

My chosen superpower would be teleportation, with the caveat that all persons or animals that I am directly or indirectly touching at the moment of teleportation may come with me if so choose. I love travel. I love free time. These two things may be mutually exclusive. My job sometimes makes these two things mutually exclusive. I have family and friends whom I love dearly that live too far away for me to see them as much as I would like to.

Think of the possibilities. With this power, I could take my son and my husband to China for dim sum on a Sunday morning, but still make it back in time for my son's morning nap. I could sneak my husband away to Tuscany for a leisurely lunch on a farm. My son could see his grandparents, his aunts and his uncles every week or even every day if he wanted. I could take my son to the Colosseum in Rome or the Great Pyramids of Giza when he's studying world history in school. It's endless and sole purpose of this power would be to enrich my life, my son's life, my husband's life, and the lives of all of those I love so dearly.

Also, just think of it! I could use this power to deliver leftover homemade food and other gently used items that would ordinarily get thrown in the trash to starving children all over the world.

Sigh. If i could only figure out how to actually do this!

  2. I'm not sure this is a superpower, but I'm going to consider this one....I want immortality. I want to pick an age and stay it. Not to be beautiful, but to do all the things I want to do in life. I find often, that there just isn't enough time in the day to do the things I want. There is not enough time in life to pursue the things that I'm interested in.

For instance, I've learned to play the piano and violin. But I would LOVE to learn to play the trumpet and the drum kit. But I don't have the time because I'm trying to get into medical school. If I was immortal I could do all the things that interest me and put them to good use.

In a dream world, I'd be a famous musician and a surgeon. Not realistic in the slightest. In a dream world I'd also be an artist, I'd love to learn how to paint since I already can draw really well. I'd love to have the time to sew my own clothes. I'd love to have a family with a couple kids. WHEN? It is not humanly possible to do all these things....and believe me I've tried (minus the family part). Life is too short.

  3. My superpower of choice would be the ability to make people hear each other. Not listen to, but hear and thus to at least understand what the other is saying. I'd use it to address the dissension in the world, and to promote peace.
